Ousmane Dembele, who had a record – breaking 2024 – 2025 Season and guided Paris Saint German winning a treble including – Lique 1 title, Coupe de France Trophy, reached the final of the Club World Cup, scoring 35 goals and 14 assists in all competition, becomes the sixth French Player to win the Ballon d’Or: * Raymond Kopa won the award in 1958. * Michael Platini consecutively in 1983, 1984, 1985 took home the awards. * Jean – Pierre Papin in 1991 carted home the award. * Zinedine Zidane was presented with the award in 1998. * It was the turn of Karim Benzema in year 2022 to took home the award. And it was ice in the cake in 2025 for Ousmane Dembele to win the prestigious award.
Spain and Barcelona midfielder, Aitana Bonmati becomes the first woman in the history of the award to win the Ballon d’Or trophies for three consecutive years, first in 2023, 2024 and now 2025. Michel Platini and Lionel Messi are the only men to have achieved the feat.
Gianluigi Donnarumma dethroned Emiliano Martinez as the best Goalkeeper in the world, with the Argentina goalkeeper having won the last two editions. Donnarumma who also won similar award in 2021, this season helped Paris Saint German to quadruple, including the Champions League and has since joined Manchester City in England.
