World’s renowned Tennis Superstars, Venus and Serena Williams recently launched the Williams Family Excellence Program in partnership with the the United States Tennis Association Foundation.
The program will focus on supporting athletes ages 13 – 25 from under resourced communities with scholarships, mentoring programs, performance trainings and internship opportunities.
The Williams Family Excellence Program which has a goal of reaching 2,500 people annually by 2035, is very important to us Venus says: “Through tennis we can create so many opportunities with building careers, creating scholarships, and giving every child an opportunity to to be the best, and to live their dreams. I never want to, and never want the young people to have to do that either.
The aim, the Sisters say is to help families like theirs, “Their story is one of courage and resilience. This program will carry that legacy forward by giving young the same sense of possibility that the Williams family has all of us, says Brian Vahily, Chairman of board and president of the USTA.
The new initiative builds on the work of the USTA, which supports hundreds of community – based programs around the country that offer a mix of tennis, education, and mentorship of thousands of young people.
