****The Coal City will host Nigeria’s biggest sporting fiesta in November
The National Sports Commission, in partnership with the Local Organising Committee ( LOC ) and Main Organising Committee ( MOC ) has unveiled ‘ODUMEZE’ the official mascot of the 2026 National Sports Festival, scheduled for November in Enugu State.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the Enugu State International Conference Centre, was performed by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented Governor Peter Mbah at the occasion.
According to the Deputy Governor, ‘Odumeze’ represents Boldness, Strength and Power, values that reflect the spirit of the Games and the identity of the people of Enugu State.
The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olapade, described the unveiling as a critical activation to build momentum and ensure the Festival resonates across Nigeria and Enugu State.
“I am very proud to be associated with ‘Odumeze,’ the NSC DG said, while commending the Enugu State Government and LOC for the pace of preparations.”
Also speaking the Enugu State Commissioner for Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu appreciated the support of stakeholders and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to hosting a memorable Festival to international standards.
With ODUMEZE now unveiled, the countdown to the 2026 National Sports Festival, Nigeria’s biggest sporting fiesta is officially on. Preparations continue across venues, accommodation, medical services, transportation and other key areas as Enugu gets ready to welcome athletes and sports stakeholders from across Nigeria to the Coal City.
