Nigeria’s Super Falcons, the nine time Champions, on a revenge mission, will this evening, Tuesday ( 22 July) confront Defending Champions, Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the 2024 WAFCON first Semi Final at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
Super Falcons aiming for their tenth titles, on Friday crushed Cooper Queens of Zambia in the quarter – final by five unreplied Goals to book a spot in today’s semi final, while Bayana Bayana of South Africa defeated Teranga Lioness of Senegal through penalty shootout in other quarter – final encounter on Saturday.
Super Falcons and Bayana Bayana has met at three WAFCON matches with the South African Women’s National Team winning two out of the three matches, including the 2 – 1 win in the 2022 group stage.
In the second Semi Final also slated for tonight at the same venue, Host Country, Atlas Lioness of Morocco will battle Black Queens of Ghana to decide who takes on the winners of the first semis in the tournament finals.
In their own semi final matches, Host Country, Atlas Lioness defeated Mali by three goals to one, as Black Queens of Ghana beat Algeria 4 – 2 also through a penalty shootout in the quarter final following a 0 – 0 draw after 120 minutes on Saturday.
