President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally reported the recurring Xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against Africans and other nationals to the African Union ( AU ) with a warning that the incidents undermine the continent’s solidarity, unity and peaceful coexistence.
President Tinubu made Nigeria’s position known through the Vice President Kashim Shettima at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union ( AU ) in Launda, Angola.
The Nigerian leader called for urgent collective action from the continent’s leaders on this recurring incidents, and urged them to place this matter on the agenda for the 40 Ordinary Session of the Assembly scheduled for January 2027.
President Tinubu while acknowledging South Africa’s Sovereign right to enforce immigration laws therefore called on African leaders to reaffirm their commitment to safety, protection and dignity of all African nationals.

The high – level Summit will focus on critical strategies for conflict resolution and advancement of lasting peace and stability across the African continent.
