The activities of the 2026 edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Lagos Television Chapel begins today Wednesday, 13th August, 2026 with Opening Ceremony and Gyration at Lagos Television, Lateef Jakande Way, Agidingbi Lagos.
The two – day event will be declared open by Distinguished Senator Ganiu Olarenwaju Solomon at the Lagos Television iconic hall this morning signalling the commencement of the Chapel’s 2026 Press Week which promises to be exciting.
The announcement of the activities for the Lagos NUJ Lagos Television Chapel 2026 Press Week was made in a joint statement signed by both Anita Buari and Falilat Okunnu.
According to the statement the central theme for the Press Week is “Advancing Democracy Through Ethical Broadcast Practice.”
The statement read in part “This year’s Press Week will explore the vital role of responsible broadcasting in strengthening democratic value and promoting good governance.
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat will share a valuable insight on a place of “Ethical Broadcasting in Democratic Development,” as keynote speaker,” the statement noted.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho wii be the Chief Host, while the General Manager of Lagos Television, Kayode Oyekanmi is Host for the 2026 Press Week of the NUJ Lagos Television Chapel.
The NUJ Lagos Television Chapel urges invited members, media practitioners, policymakers, stakeholders and the public at large to be part of this remarkable gathering as we celebrate professionalism and the enduring power of responsible Journalism.
The second day of the event which comes up on Friday, 14th August, 2026 will be the Grande Finale / Awards Night where outstanding personalities in the society that has contributed meaningfully to the growth of Journalism profession and nation building will be honoured with award of excellence.
