Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa and would be representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 20th Edition of G20 Leaders’ Summit, which opens today at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
On arrival, the Vice President was received at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Johannesburg, South Africa by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires to South Africa, Alexander Ajayi, Consul – General, Ambassador Umar Bashir, Defence Adviser, Commodore Ibrahim Ari – Gwaska, and the Chief Director, West Africa Directorate, Department of International Relations and Cooperation ( DIRCO), Nyameko Goso. Also to welcome the Vice President at the Airport was the South African Minister of Small Business Development, MS Stella Ndabeni – Abrahams, among other top government officials.
Recalled that President Bola Tinubu was earlier scheduled to be in South Africa on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, following President Cyril Ramaphosa Invitation to him to attend the G20 Johannesburg Summit.
However, the President cancelled his trip to receive security briefings on the abduction of 24 Schoolgirls in Kebbi State and bandits attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
